​Native mulberry

Pipturus argenteus

This fast growing small tree is found in on the margins of rainforests in south-eastern, subtropical Queensland. 

The small, white soft mulberry like fruit is eaten raw. It is juicy and sweet, but variable in taste. You have to work hard to get a good meal. It contains many small seeds. 

The bark can be used for make cloth and rope.

t is a host plant for many butterflies and other insects.
