The sandpaper fig is commonly​ fou​nd along eastern Queensland an​d New South Wales. We find it locally in our rainforests.

The leaves have a very rough sandpaper surface. Indigenous groups used the​m to polish their wooden weapons and utensils.

The bark was also used to make strong string which was woven into fishing nets. Fruiting from January to June, the tasty hairy fruit is ripe when it turns a purple/black colour.
