Tamborine Mountain State School
Principal, Jason Smith has been recognised as one of Australia’s most
influential educators in The Educator magazine’s 2018 Hot List. Mr Smith is only one of two educators
in the south East Queensland to achieve this accolade. He attributes his
success to having a keen sense of responsibility, transparency and
accountability to his students, staff and community, as well as a clear vision
for an innovative student-centred, personalised approach to teaching and
learning.
He says his school’s Leadership Team is
outstanding. “They not only have an individual array of high quality
professional skills, they work exceptionally well collaboratively, and have
become trusting colleagues over the seven years I have been Principal at TMSS,”
said Mr Smith.
“My family, staff, students, P&C,
School Council and broader school community, including TMSHS through our
Learning Academy partnership, are vital advisors to me, and contributors to
TMSS positively moving forward into the future.”
Mr Smith will deliver a keynote
presentation about student-centred learning at next year’s Childhood Summit
from 28 to 30 March in Brisbane.
